Mara Larson

Guide

An Oregon native, Mara grew up running the wonderfully muddy trails of the Pacific Northwest. Now her world lies in the remote and high peaks of the world. She started out researching the brain at high altitude for NASA, based at Everest base camp. This led to her managing climbing logistics on the mountain for over a decade. She’s assisted with Discovery Channel, the North Face, and on some of the highest rescues on the mountain, often aiding from above the icefall. In her downtime, she organizes trail races and running trips across the Himalaya and the Alps and works at developing local running talent across Nepal. She’s run speed ascents on Aconcagua, stood on the podium in the Kathmandu Marathon, and holds the International Mountain Leader certification from the British system. But most of all, she’s most passionate about sharing her love of the high peaks with those just dipping their toes in!
