José Luis has been guiding in South America and Nepal for more than twenty years and is one of the most respected guides around. He is an International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations -IFMGA certified guide. José was the Director of the Ecuadorian Mountain Guides Association (ASEGUIM) Mountain Guide and Rescue School. José Luis has done countless climbs in the Andes of Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, French and Swiss Alps and Dolomites in Italy. He was the second Ecuadorian to summit Mount Everest in 2002 and summited for the second, third and fourth time as a guide for commercial expeditions in 2005, 2008, and 2012. He formed part of the team that guided the then Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa to the summit of Cotopaxi in 2013. José Luis was also the President of ASEGUIM from 2013 until 2015. The Ecuadorian Mountain Guide Association reached IFMGA Aspirant Country Status under his term.
